In collaboration with the school’s leadership, Leverage to Lead supported the creation of a workplace culture that enables all employees to bring their full potential to work every day. Their scope of work included a draft of a DEI statement, and both group workshops and 1:1 individualized, personal and professional DEI development for leadership and identity.
We expected to end our work together with tangible progress of a DEI statement. What we did not expect was the raw, vulnerable opportunities staff had to express the impact our current school practices had on their feelings of worth. These moments served as starting points for healing and established the precipice of change. As the Principal of the school, I personally walked away internalizing the value of process over progress and the need to slow down, despite the sense of urgency that is felt with this work.
