Your attention is your superpower.
This tool doesn’t help you simply do more. It helps you do what actually matters.
From Jennifer:
“Fifteen years ago, as I was starting Leverage to Lead, I created a tool I’ve now used almost every day: the Daily Focus.
At the time, I needed something to help me keep my inbox in perspective—because an inbox is often full of other people’s priorities. The Daily Focus helped me keep my attention on my priorities: the people and projects that aligned with my values and vision.
As I grew as a leader, I began to understand that what I focused on expanded—my clients, my team, my creativity, my business. But that growth only came when I learned to also pay attention to myself, to my emotions, to my capacity.
That’s why I still use the Daily Focus. It keeps me grounded. Every morning, I set 2–3 priorities (sometimes personal, sometimes professional). I list the people I want to connect with—because I know opportunities come through relationships, not transactions. Then I identify 3–5 tasks and make space for creative ideas, knowing that they’re fleeting and need a place to land.
It’s not just a to-do list. It’s a practice—a daily act of intention that helps me stay present with my thinking, my relationships, and my goals.
We often believe leadership is about managing others, but the truth is: it starts with managing yourself and your attention. Where is it going? Who is it serving? And is it aligned with what matters most to you?”
We hope this tool serves you well!
